Slave ownership and fossil fuel usage – a commentary
Heatloss calculations and energy efficient actions for electrical
The most common nitrogen-related compounds emitted into the air by human activities are collectively referred to as nitrogen oxides. Fossil fuels, including coal, oil and natural gas, are currently the world's primary energy source. Formed from organic material over the course of millions of years, fossil fuels have fueled U.S. and global economic development over the past century. Yet fossil fuels are finite resources and they can also irreparably harm the environment. Fossil fuels are buried flammable geologic deposits of organic substances such as dead plants and animals that got deposited under several thousand feet of silt. These deposits decayed with the passage of time and got converted to natural gas, coal and petroleum due to the extreme heat and pressure inside the earth’s crust. Fossil fuels, or energy sources formed in the Earth’s crust from decayed organic material, including petroleum, natural gas, and coal, continue to account for the largest share of energy production and consumption in the United States.

Fossil fuels principally consist of carbon and hydrogen bonds. There are three types of fossil fuels which can all be used for energy provision; coal, oil and natural gas. Coal is a solid fossil fuel formed over millions of years by decay of land vegetation. Se hela listan på gsi.ie

OSLO, NORWAY — The City of Oslo today announced that it will divest its $9 billion pension fund (€8 But there is one thing we do not love; its investments in the fossil fuel industry, We therefore call on the Nobel Foundation to commit to divest from fossil fuels. We use the notion of a "fossil fuel curse," which implies that it is not obvious that two choices for fossil-rich economies: leave the fossil fuels in the ground and This paper is based on an extensive assessment of the global fossil fuel markets, i.e. of the coal, gas and oil markets.
